Thank you to everyone who came to the 2022 New Deal Festival and helped make it a success! If you missed out on getting a 2022 program, you can download one here!
Our New Deal Festival programs often reflect the artwork and design of the 1930s. This year’s design included the famous blue eagle symbol of the National Recovery Administration (NRA). This poster would have been displayed in businesses that supported the NRA’s “Code of Fair Competition.”
One of President Roosevelt’s “alphabet soup” New Deal agencies, the NRA was established in 1933 by the National Industrial Recovery Act in 1933 (NIRA) to “supervise fair trade codes and guaranteed laborers a right to collective bargaining.” The NIRA received intense criticism at the time and its compulsory codes were invalidated in 1935 by the US Supreme Court.
The New Deal Festival is this weekend on Saturday, July 9 from 10-5! Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 5-11. Kids 4 and under get in free.
There will be so much to do at this year’s festival, and we can’t wait to see everyone!
